The event includes 4 routes: two routes with timed special tests and free-ride transfer sections reserved for gravel bikes, as well as two cycle-tourist routes suitable for any other type of bike.
The regulations of the event, affiliated with and promoted by ACSI, comply with the FCI National Amateur Sector Implementation Rules.
All participants are required to read the following regulations carefully before registering.
ART. 1 – GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE EVENT
NOVA EROICA will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in Castel del Monte, L’Aquila, Italy.
The Race includes two competitive routes with timed special stages and free-ride transfer sections, and two cycling routes.
In these Regulations, NOVA Eroica will also be referred to as the Event, the Demonstration, or the Race.
ART. 2 – BICYCLES
Nova Eroica is a cycling event for gravel bikes, but road and cyclocross bikes with steel, titanium, and aluminum frames are also permitted; For the 2026 edition, mountain bikes and pedal-assist bicycles are exceptionally permitted, but they will not be allowed to participate in time trials.
Gravel bikes must have racing handlebars.
To be considered gravel bikes, they must have at least 32 mm tires and disc brakes on the front and rear wheels.
2.1 Definition of Gravel Bike
The frame of a gravel bike is derived from a cyclocross frame, already extensively defined by the FCI. The differences between a CX frame and a gravel bike are:
ART. 3 – ROUTES AND DEPARTURES
NOVA Eroica Gran Sasso offers 4 routes:
The competitive routes include free-ride transfers and timed special stages; the cycle-tourist route is entirely free-ride.
The routes will be marked with arrows, but everyone should rely on the GPS tracks and time tables available at www.novaeroica.it.
The organization will ensure the presence of a Race Start and a Race Finish, which will pass along the routes.
The start for everyone will be at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6th in Castel del Monte, AQ.
ART. 4 - STARTING ORDER

ART. 5 - CYCLING MEMBERSHIP
In order to comply with Italian regulations, all cyclists must be members of the F.C.I. or of organizations affiliated with the F.C.I. (ACSI, US ACLI, CSI, CSAIN, AICS, LIBERTAS, CSEN, and UISP) at the time of registration. OPES and ASI members must activate the BIKE Card.
A valid Cycling Sports Card must be uploaded to the appropriate section of the MyEroica registration platform at least 15 days before registration to allow the organization to validate it. Cards will be checked within 15 days of being uploaded.

Memberships from the F.C.I. or from organizations affiliated with the F.C.I. (ACSI, US ACLI, CSI, CSAIN, AICS, LIBERTAS, CSEN, and UISP) are valid; OPES and ASI members must activate the BIKE Card.
Italian cyclists who do NOT have a Cycling Sports Card can register by paying €10. This will automatically activate the "ACSI Supporting Membership Card," which includes daily insurance coverage for events organized in Italy by Eroica Italia S.S.D. a r.l.

The Organization reserves the right, at any time and at its sole discretion, to accept or reject registration, or to exclude a participant from the event if they may harm the organization's image.
ART. 6 – CERTIFICATE OF FITNESS FOR SPORT
All participants, including holders of a Cycling Sports Card (as per Art. 5), are MANDATORY to submit a valid MEDICAL CERTIFICATE to the organization.

Participation in the 80, 92, and 132 km courses is subject to the following requirements:
− for athletes registered with the Italian Cycling Federation (F.C.I.) and sports promotion bodies: certificate of fitness for competitive cycling
(Certificates for other sports such as triathlon, duathlon, athletics, etc. are not valid);
− for individuals residing in Italy but not registered with the Italian Cycling Federation (F.C.I.) or sports promotion bodies: certificate of fitness for sporting activities involving a particularly high cardiovascular intensity (as per the Ministerial Decree of April 24, 2013) - see the downloadable form link
− for individuals residing abroad: certificate of fitness for competitive cycling competitions, also issued by a doctor from their country of residence - see the downloadable form (or equivalent); Link
Participation in the 60 km route is subject to the following requirements:
− For athletes registered with the Italian Football Federation (F.C.I.) and sports promotion bodies: certificate of fitness for non-competitive sports (as per the former Ministerial Decree of April 24, 2013)
− For Italian residents but not registered with the Italian Football Federation (F.C.I.) or sports promotion bodies: certificate of fitness for non-competitive sports (as per the former Ministerial Decree of April 24, 2013)
− For foreign residents, certificate of fitness for non-competitive sports, also issued by a doctor from their country of residence.
N.B. The certificate of fitness for sporting activities must be uploaded online to the MyEroica platform in the "My Documents" section by June 1, 2026. The uploaded certificate will be checked and validated online within 15 days of uploading. If the certificate of fitness for sporting activities is not compliant, it will be rejected and cancelled, and the registered participant must upload a new, compliant certificate.
For those registering at the last minute, the medical certificate must be presented and validated when collecting the technical envelope (see Article 8).
Anyone who fails to comply with this requirement will NOT be considered a registered participant and will not be entitled to a refund of the registration fee.
Each participant must declare, pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 445 of December 28, 2000, that the documents uploaded to the MyEroica system are truthful and correspond to the originals in their possession.
ART. 7 - REGISTRATION METHODS AND COSTS
Registrations can be purchased directly on the MyEroica online platform:
Each participant must register on the platform with their own email address and choose a password. The email address will serve as their user ID; the same email address cannot be used by two or more people.
Registrations are only possible individually. Sports groups wishing to register their team under a single account must contact the organization. Each athlete must also be registered on the My Eroica platform.
Registration will open at 9:00 a.m. on January 14, 2026 (Rome time, CET) with the following prices and closing dates:

For non-members who have purchased the ACSI Supporting Member Card, please note: For €10, you will not need to present a membership card at registration.
You can delegate a friend or trusted person by submitting a printout of the "MY EROICA" page, duly completed and signed in the DELEGATION section, along with a copy of the delegating person's ID and a copy of their competitive sports membership card.
For the collection of technical envelopes and race packs for sports groups, a cumulative list must be provided, indicating the details of each participant.
ART. 9 - SUBSTITUTIONS OR CANCELLATIONS
Within 30 days of the event date, you may request a replacement participant only if the participant is in good standing with their registration. To replace the previous participant, the new participant must register on the "MY EROICA" system and upload the required documents (medical certificate and valid sports membership card).
A €10.00 administration fee will be charged for this operation.
If a registered participant is unable to participate in NOVA Eroica, the registration fee will not be refunded, and the race pack will not be shipped.
Cancellations may be made within 30 days of the event by sending an email to iscrizioni@novaeroica.it.
The organizer reserves the right to evaluate, at its sole discretion, any communications received if they are motivated by "objective inability to participate due to injury," documented by medical records.
Medical records will be processed in compliance with current privacy regulations.
In cases recognized by the organizer, the registration fee alone will be considered valid for registration for the following year's event, subject to the payment of a €15.00 administration fee.
Registrations held valid for the following year are personal and non-transferable, and will be valid only for the year following cancellation. In the event of a further cancellation, the registration fee will be considered forfeited.
ART. 10 – TIMETABLE AND TIMING
The timetables for all routes are published on the website www.novaeroica.it and made official at least 7 days before the event.
At the start and end of each TIMED Special Stage, the individual times of the competing athletes will be recorded using a dedicated chip.
Those who miss even one TIMED Special Stage will not appear in the finish order.
Referring to the U.C.I. and F.C.I. Regulations, paragraphs 1.3.010 and 12.4.003 on technological fraud, the race jury, with the technical support of the organization, is authorized to conduct random or systematic checks.
Non-compliance or refusal to submit to the required technical checks will result in immediate disqualification and reporting to the competent authorities.
Timekeeping will be performed by My Sdam using methods that will be communicated prior to the Event.
ART. 11 – COMPOSITION, RANKINGS, AND AWARDS OF TEAMS
A team will be defined as such if it consists of a minimum of four cyclists registered with the same sports club. Teams may be composed of all-male, all-female, or mixed.
Awards will be given to teams that complete the selected routes within the time limit indicated in Article 10. In the case of teams with the same number of cyclists, the best sum of the timed times will be used.

At the end of the Medium and Long courses, the individual timed special stage rankings and the team ranking will be drawn up and published.

ART. 14 - MEDICAL CARE
A shared medical assistance plan is in place, approved by the 118 Operations Center in L'Aquila.
The race will be followed by ambulances and doctors authorized to call SOS 118.

Nova Eroica mechanical assistance is guaranteed at the start, while other mechanics will be located along the route at fixed locations as shown on the map.

ART. 19 - CANCELLATION OR POSTPONEMENT OF THE EVENT
If, due to force majeure, the event
If the event is cancelled, the registration fee will not be refunded. However, only the registration fee will be considered valid for registration for the following year. The organization will also be entitled to a €10.00 administrative fee for postponing registration to the following year. The request for registration for the following year and the payment of the administrative fee must be made by the date indicated by the organization after the cancellation of the event.
Furthermore, in the event of force majeure or other serious reasons that jeopardize the preparation of the event or the participation of at least half of the registered participants, the organization reserves the right to reschedule the location and/or date of the event within the same calendar year. In this case, the registration fee will be valid for the rescheduled event, at no additional cost to the registered participants. Postponing registration to the following year is not possible.
ART. 20 - CHANGES
The organizer reserves the right to make changes to the rules at any time. The official website of the event, where these rules are published, is the only official source of information about the event.
ART. 21 - RIGHTS AND DUTIES OF RIDERS
Riders are required to clearly display their bike numbers behind their saddles, as well as to affix their back number, provided by the organizer. These numbers may not be changed or altered in any way.
It is mandatory to wear a rigid helmet approved for cycling and to keep it fastened throughout the race. Cyclists are required to obey the Highway Code throughout the race, including during timed sections.
ART. 22 - DISQUALIFICATIONS
A two-year disqualification will be applied to anyone who:
We appeal to all participants to exercise civic duty to keep the areas along the route clean.
In serious cases, such as participating with someone else's RACE NUMBER or the unauthorized transfer of one's registration, the organizers have sole discretion to issue a lifetime disqualification.
Disqualifications imposed during the year may result in removal from the start list at any time, at the organizers' sole discretion.
The use of bicycles equipped with any type of motor or propulsion aid is strictly prohibited, under penalty of disqualification or expulsion.
ART. 23 - OTHER RULES
For matters not covered by these regulations, the event will apply the implementing rules of the amateur sector of the FCI and ACSI.
ART. 24 - APPROVAL, CONSENT, AUTHORIZATION, ETC.
By requesting to participate in NOVA Eroica in any of the ways provided for in this regulation, each participant, from the moment of registration:
The Organization declines all liability, for itself and its collaborators, for accidents or damage to persons or property that may occur before, during, or after the event.or as a result thereof.
Furthermore, by submitting the online registration form, the participant self-certifies that there are no sporting, civil, and/or criminal sanctions, even if served, for doping-related offenses, and declares that he or she has not taken - and does not take - any substances included in the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) anti-doping list (http://list.wada-ama.org/prohibited-all-times/prohibited-substances/).
False self-certifications will be prosecuted according to the law.
In the event of a positive doping test during Nova Eroica, or a positive test within the following 6 (six) months at other sporting events, the competitor is required to pay the NOVA EROICA Organization the sum of €50,000.00 (fifty thousand euros) as compensation for the serious damage caused to the image of the event.
Any sums collected by the Organization as compensation for damage to its image will be donated entirely to youth sports activities.
