The route tests the athletes' endurance, while still offering support from official refreshment points in Torrenieri, Monteroni d'Arbia, and Podere La Campana. A crucial point is the water supply at Torre a Castello, essential for tackling the toughest section of the legendary and fearsome Monte Sante Marie climb. Five timed sections are planned.
